Frequently Asked Questions - FOLD Yoga Studio, Macclesfield

Getting Started

  • Do I need experience to join a yoga class at FOLD?

Not at all. FOLD Yoga Studio is designed to be welcoming for complete beginners as well as those with an existing practice.

Our Introduction to Yoga class is specifically designed for people who have never tried yoga before, and all of our teachers offer modifications and alternatives so you can work at your own level regardless of the class you choose.

If you're unsure where to start, feel free to get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.

  • Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?

Not at all! This is one of the most common misconceptions about yoga - you don't need to be flexible to start, that's what yoga is for.

Whether you're stiff from a desk job, recovering from an injury, or just haven't moved much in a while, there's a class at FOLD that will work for your body as it is right now.

Flexibility and strength develop naturally over time with regular practice.

  • What should I wear to a yoga class?

Comfortable, stretchy clothing that you can move freely in is all you need - standard gym or workout wear is perfect.

Avoid anything too baggy as it can get in the way during certain poses. Yoga is practised barefoot, so no specialist footwear is needed.

  • Do I need to bring my own mat?

No, but you can if you want to.

FOLD provides all equipment including mats, blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets. You're welcome to bring your own mat if you have one and prefer to use it, but there's no requirement to do so.

    Just bring yourself.
